Prayer rooms (prosefchitiria) – small spaces or rooms dedicated to individual prayer. These are separate small structures that resemble a simplified chapel. Their purpose is to offer privacy for prayer while providing protection from the weather. Inside, there is an iconostasi (shrine), a vigil lamp, candles, a censer, incense, the Holy Gospel, and prayer books.
There are two prayer rooms in Pedoulas:
Prayer Room of Saint Mamas
It is located on the Pedoulas-Kykkos road, after the hill of "Stavros tis Fithkias." It overlooks the bay of occupied Morphou, of which Saint Mamas is the patron saint and protector.
Prayer Room of the Holy Cross and the Virgin Mary
It is located near the village's main church, which is dedicated to the ‘Proodos of the Holy Cross’. It is built in the same architectural style as the church. It serves primarily for individual veneration and prayer during hours when the main church is closed.
Fire Safety Warning: Be careful when lighting fire. Do not leave a flame unattended. Upon leaving, make sure that no flame is left burning.
